It's far from being a blockbuster and we bet that Rajinikanth knows the economics which have disturbed the film. We wonder what has Shankar to say

2.0, Box-Office Collection, Day 1: Rajini May Not Realise His Dream
The opening collections have not lived up to the hype created, the film is anything but the blockbuster it was promised to be. Remember Rajinikanth declaring at the Chennai trailer launch that 2.0 will fetch 2X amount of the X amount that it has been made at? Well, it has been made at 550 crore and 1100 crore collection is clearly a distant dream. Rajinikanth's last few films may have garnered a Day 1 box-office collection which was lesser than that of 2.0, but let's not forget that those ventures were made at a price which was 1/3rd or 1/4th of what 2.0 took to be made?

Collecting about Rs 20 crore from its Hindi release on Thursday and Rs 43 crore from the Tamil version, the total for the opening day stands at Rs 73 crore (approx). The expected estimated was Rs 100 crore at least, which has clearly fallen short by 25 per cent. Mind you, this is on Day 1. Add this to the fat that the reviews have not been all encouraging. What seems to have gone wrong is the film's weak direction (Shankar), poor dialogues (Abbas Tyrewala), budget setting (A Subaskaran, producer), nothing-to-rave-about music (A R Rahman) and plastic performance (Amy Jackson).

Will Rajini realise his dream? He just might, after all he is Rajini! So yeah, let's wait and see what happens. And don't forget to land here for the collections of Day 2 to know whether Rajini is on his way to pull it off or not.
